Why is it called the "Nehemiah" Plan? The Nehemiah Plan gets its foundation from biblical book of the same name. Nehemiah was an official in the court of the Persian King Artaxerxes; however, he was an Israelite who was faithful to God and whose desire was for Jerusalem to be restored. He is known in particular for the rebuilding of the Jerusalem wall in 52 days.

While in Susa, Nehemiah became burdened for Jerusalem and mourned, fasted and prayed to the Lord (1:4) and asked the Lord for "success today"(1:11). He turned first to the Lord and then began making preparations for the answer to that prayer. He approached King Artaxerxes and asked the King if he might return to Jerusalem to begin rebuilding the wall (1:4-5). The king gave him permission and provided the resources to accomplish this great work.

The spiritual implications are important for us. First, we turn to our King and pray for God to give us "success today." We ask that through his Spirit and direction, He would begin preparing even now a new place of ministry for us.  Second, we believe that He has the resources available to accomplish this great work. These resources are found in the people of our congregation and others who have a heart for our Ministry of Restoration. We believe that the Lord will speak to the hearts of our people and will direct them to share their resources to accomplish this work. Continue to pray and seek God that we will experience "success today!"
